Well, Thanksgiving is over and the holiday season isofficially upon us. Finding the perfectgift for friends and family can be a real challenge, so I’ve put together a list of my five favorite gift ideas that are sure to inspire you, andmake the people you love feel as special as they are.

Great Gift #1:

The classic family photo.

Believe in the Bard.

Ok, so maybe Shakespeare isn’t your thing- but I’ll bet thatthere is some poet out there that knocks your socks off- or, if poetry doesn’twow you, how about a piece of prose? Extrapoints if you compose the text yourself! Here you see my favorite Shakespeare sonnetframed with a double mat and an elegant gold frame. How romantic!!

Great Gift #5:

Those three words.

Yes, sometimes it’s just that simple; here are two examplesof how to say “I love you” just right. Thefirst is an impromptu note that my boyfriend left me a few yearsago written on a supermarket receipt. Yeah, it’s got a big grease stainon it, but doesn’t it make it all the more authentic?! It’s floated simply on a red fabric mat andcheck out how we’ve made a photocopy of the back of the receipt an adhered itto the back.

The second is just anotherexample of how your sentiment can be elaborated by your very ownmakings, and the perfect framing solution.

Luscious Lacquers

At Fort Point Framers we think that a frame that looks like candy is pretty awesome, and although you can't actually eat these delicious looking lacquer moldings, we do invite you to feast on them with your eyes! And as always, any of these frames can be made into a custom mirror for a perfect reflection of you.

Fall in love with Fort Point!

Here at Fort Point Framers we are very proud of our neighborhood. We love the brickwork, the architecture, the history, the graffiti, and of course the people who make it the vibrant place that it is today.

This month and next we are showcasing a series of photographs that celebrate some of the things we love most about Fort Point. All of the images are photos that we have taken while simply out enjoying our fantastic neighborhood!

We hope that you will join us tomorrow night, Thursday May 19, from 5:00pm-7:00pm to experience our gallery full of Fort Point Snapshots. Delicious snacks from The Channel Cafe will seal the deal; fall in love with Fort Point for the first time, or all over again!

Interior/Exterior at The Gallery at Fort Point Framers

This February and March we are very pleased to present Interior/Exterior, a selection of artwork by Fort Point artists Karen McFeaters and Elisa H. Hamilton.

This show explores favorite locations both inside and outside through the eyes of the artists. From local landmarks and nature's solitude, to the warmth of home- we hope that this exhibition takes you someplace special. Please join us for a reception with the artists this Thursday, February 24, from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Refreshments will be served.

Interior/Exerior will be on view in our gallery from February 21 - March 31st, 2011.

Ian Kennelly's "Home Opener"

For the month of April 2010 The Gallery at Fort Point Framers is proud to feature the vibrant work of Fort Point artist Ian Kennelly.

“Home Opener” is a collection of paintings and drawings celebrating not only baseball itself, but also the artist’s personal connection to the sport, and what it means to live in Boston and be a lover of “the game”. Originally from California, this year marks Ian’s 20th year as a Red Sox fan. Using his affection for baseball as a catalyst, in this work Ian brings together a beautiful command of color and shape with a subject matter that is warm and wonderful.

An engaging exhibition for baseball lovers and art lovers alike, we hope you will come to soak in the vibrance of Ian’s delightful pieces in person.

“Home Opener” will be on view at our gallery from April 1-30, 2010 with an artist’s reception on Thursday April 15 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Looking forward to seeing you there!

"Deciphering the Divine" Opening Reception

Thanks to all who stopped by on Thursday night for the "Deciphering the Divine" opening reception! We had a wonderful turnout and the event was a great success. Kate Gilbert Miller's beautiful artwork will be showing in our gallery space for the duration of March, so feel free to stop in for another look! "Deciphering the Divine"

The Gallery at Fort Point Framers is thrilled to be featuring FPAC artist Kate Gilbert Miller for the month of March. Her exhibition of drawings and paintings, "Deciphering the Divine", will be showing in our gallery space from March 3 to 31 with an opening reception on Thursday, March 4th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm- We hope you will stop by!

Inspired by her everyday experiences, Kate's artwork explores nature's transformative, restorative and life-giving forces through medium and imagery. Her process-driven pieces evoke a sense of thoughtful diligence while drawing the viewer into her own vision of the world. Fort Point Framers is delighted to have the artwork of FPAC artist Amy Baxter MacDonald gracing the walls of our gallery for the month of February. The exhibition will run from February 1st to 26th with an artist’s reception Thursday February 18th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Do stop by and see her beautiful work in person!

Amy received her BA from Hamilton College in 1987 and her MFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA in 2009. She currently teaches animation at the New England Institute of Art and teaches painting and drawing at the Arlington Center for the Arts and the Dorchester Community Center for the Arts (Dot Art) as well. She lives and works in our Fort Point Artists Community.
